Auxiliary
Swift County-Benson Hospital Auxiliary is active in helping to maintain and improve the hospital’s equipment and facilities. Annual activities throughout the year include educating the public and sponsoring hospital fundraising activities.

The following events are sponsored annually by the SCBH Auxiliary:
“Learn for Life” Program
Each year the public is invited to take part in a linen tablecloth and napkin dinner as a speaker provides information on specific health issues. Some examples of topics discussed in the past are: osteoporosis, colon cancer, diabetes, and cholesterol.
Hospital Decorating
In spring, when the planting season rolls around, Auxiliary members get down and dirty outside and plant annuals and perennials around the hospital grounds. Year around we have fun indoors as we decorate for all seasons.
Summer Golf Event
In August, when the golf season is in full swing, the Auxiliary hosts the SCBH Golf Classic. Sign up early, this event is usually sold out early.
Quilt Raffle
Each year Inga Long donates a quilt for which raffle tickets are sold in various locations throughout Swift County. The winner of the 2007 quit was Barb Flolo.
Memberships:
Memberships to the SCBH Auxiliary are $10 a year or $100 for an individual life membership. Yearly memberships for the Auxiliary for businesses or organizations is $50 a year or $500 for a lifetime membership. These can be obtained from the SCBH Auxiliary Board Members or at the hospital.

History

In 1912, the Swift County Hospital was constructed at a cost of $15,000 and had an original capacity of 20 to 25 patients. |
 In 1949, a new City-County Hospital was constructed at a cost of $400,000.
|
In 1971 a million dollar addition was added to the hospital.
|
The addition of a new emergency facility was completed in 2003. The Swift County-Benson Hospital celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2002.
|
The new Surgical Center opened on June 15, 2008.
