With summer fast approaching, May is a timely month to recognize Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month. Skin cancer is a serious condition that affects people of all races and colors, although those who sunburn easily with light-toned skin are at a higher risk. Skin cancer is  abnormal growth of skin cells and most frequently develops on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun’s rays such as head, neck, hands and forarms but certain types can also develop anywhere on the body, including the chest, abdomen and legs. To prevent skin cancer apply sunscreen, seek shade, wear protective clothing and check your skin for signs of skin cancer. For more skin cancer prevention tips go to:
