The Foundation’s first major fund raising campaign was to raise funds for the building of Scofield Place. The campaign was a huge success raising more than $900,000. Later campaigns have helped raise money for the Hospital’s Emergency Room addition and for the Surgery Center.
In addition to the capital campaigns, the Foundation also hosts an annual fund raising dinner, known as Emerald Eve. It’s a time of fun, food and fellowship with a silent auction, a live auction, a great meal and musical entertainment. This yearly event raises $10,000 to $20,000 for specific Hospital projects and needs. In the past, the funds raised have been used to purchase new ambulances and medical equipment. In addition, the Foundation has provided educational scholarships for Hospital employees who desire to go on to school for advanced education in their field.
We work closely with the SCBHS Board of Directors and Administration. The focus at this time is the need for Assisted Living and Memory Care. The Hospital Board is working to develop plans to have this in place in the near future. The Swift County – Benson Hospital Foundation will be a part of that process.
The success we’ve enjoyed is only because of the generosity and support of the people and businesses of our community and the surrounding area. We hope that you will consider supporting quality, local health care by attending Emerald Eve, supporting campaigns and/or making a donation to the SCBH Foundation. If you have any questions about volunteering or giving opportunities, please call Jerry Peterson at 320-760-2416 or Kurt Waldbillig at 320-843-4232. Click here to learn more about making a donation.
Foundation donors are listed in the Foundation’s annual newsletter, newspaper, and hospital’s newsletter (amounts excluded). All Friends will be invited to the annual recognition event. Founders will be part of the “Help Us Grow” tree found in the lobby of the hospital. Cumulative annual giving will get you to “Founder” status and recognition on the tree, along with a Lifetime Membership.
