Swift County Benson Health Services is recognized by Minnesota Hospital Association and Stratis Health for developing a culture of excellence
Benson – Swift County Benson Health Services has been recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) and Stratis Health for participating in the statewide culture of excellence program. Hospitals and health systems that excel across national patient safety and quality measurements demonstrate a culture that expects and strongly supports excellence in patient safety, quality and patient experience.
To earn this recognition, Swift County Benson Health Services participated in a yearlong culture of excellence development cohort offered by MHA and Stratis Health. Chief Executive Officer, Kurt Waldbillig and the Culture of Excellence Team (Sarah McGeary-DeHaan, Melissa McGinty-Thompson, Monica Olson, Todd Hodenfield, Matt Grant, Kim Fragodt, Jeff DeHaan, Jessica Schauer, and Pam Payne) convened to address four areas of organizational culture: creating or updating standards of behavior, developing a peer recognition program, incorporating service recovery plans and engaging in leadership development.
By addressing these four areas, Swift County Benson Health Services led improvements in quality and safety of patient care, improved efficiency, better patient care experiences and increased employee engagement. SCBHS Governing Board and COE team collaborated to update the facility mission statement. They are having a COE kickoff event May 7th for all staff where the new value statement will be rolled out. The team has been working on standards of behavior to be adopted facility wide. They started a service recovery program to address face to face opportunities for improvement.
“A key component of our statewide journey of continuous quality and safety improvement are our people – the teams, staff and leaders who build meaningful connections with the patients and families we serve,” said Dr. Rahul Koranne, MHA’s chief medical officer. “Working in partnership, care team members from Swift County Benson Health Services and hospitals and health systems across the state are improving health outcomes for our patients, families and communities.”
“I am proud to be part of the SCBHS team whose dedication to providing the highest quality of care to our community is evident every day,” said Kurt Waldbillig, SCBHS CEO. “Our healthcare team has done an exceptional job of implementing the culture of excellence program in our facility. Excellence and patient safety at SCBHS are our highest priorities as we continue our mission of growing our community’s health and wellness through quality, personalized healthcare. “
